Meet Wayne - soon to be a wizard in PUFFS
IRREVERENT COMEDY PUFFS COMING SOON TO THE HICKORY COMMUNITY THEATRE
The Hickory Community Theatre is thrilled to be presenting the southeast debut of the cheeky comedy, PUFFS. Performances are October 15-30 in the Jeffers Theatre. Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org or by calling 828-328-2283.
For seven years a certain boy wizard went to a certain school of magic and conquered evil. This, however, is not his story. This is the story of the Puffs, who just happened to be there too. This is a tale for anyone who has never been destined to save the world, but tried to anyway.
Not exactly leading the Puffs is Wayne, a nerdy wizard boy from New Mexico. In the Hickory production, Wayne is played by Paul Sapp.
Although Sapp has been in numerous productions before, in many other theatres, this is his first time stepping onto the HCT stage. He’s previously been behind the scenes, working as stage manager for productions like AMERICAN BUFFALO in 2020 and EVITA in 2021. Originally from River Vale, NJ, Sapp relocated to Hickory from the Durham area is 2019.
When asked about why he chose to audition for PUFFS, Sapp replied, “It was more like the hat chose me.” He went on to add, “It is only a degree or two removed from the unabashed nerd I once was, and the urbane one I tell myself I am today.”
Performances are Fridays and Saturdays, October 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 & 30 at 7:30pm; Sunday, October 24 at 2:30pm and Thursday, October 28 at 7:30pm.
Opening night, October 15, features reduced price tickets - $12 for adults and $10 for youth & students. Regular price tickets, October 16-30, are $16 for adults and $10 for youth & students.
Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org or by calling the box office at 828-328-2283.
Hickory Community Theatre is a funded affiliate of the United Arts Council of Catawba County. PUFFS is produced by Corning Optical Communications. Paramount Automotive and Sunbelt Xpress are the sponsors of the theatre's 73rd Season.
